Gluon+1 Functionality
Site Management >>
"Sites" are what PointCross calls "Contexts," where all communications, information, and - ultimately - knowledge revolve. Gluon unifies all emails, documents, meetings, and data in a Site, and maintains relationships between each, allowing users to quickly and easily identify interactions and the supportive content or vice versa.
Single copy and de-duplication of content >>
Even though each site is a different business topic certain documents will be relevant in multiple areas. This causes a problem with duplication and over proliferation of different versions and copies of a single document. Gluon™ is able to read and recognize multiple copies of a document and store it as only one copy in the backend. All instances of the document are then linked to that single copy.
Change tracking >>
Impertinent metadata is always recorded and stored for every email, document, and meeting. The first version of a document is stored and only the delta, or changed information, is recorded for the subsequent versions. Users can revert to any previous version if necessary. Changes are made through a Check In - Check Out process or a simple Update feature available in Microsoft Office.
Synchronization with Outlook - Smart - Automatic - Adaptive to Network - Adaptive to User Need >>
Changes made to the user's SharePoint Sites and content are automatically sent down to the user's personal computer. The system recognizes what content is most important to the user through interaction and pushes that content first. Also, the synchronization adapts to the network connection, sending information so as to not overburden the bandwidth, which would slow the user's other activities.
Simple Deployment >>
Gluon™ will be configured with the end to end security that Orchestra™ supports. Single copy (de-duplication) of all emails, documents, and other unstructured content is maintained. Search and Orienteering facilities are available with dashboard level controls for eDiscovery, Litigation support, and sequestration.
Gluon -1 Functionality
Offline Access to SharePoint Site Content >>
SharePoint Sites that the user has access to and has noted as a "Favorite" is recreated as a folder in Outlook. When the folder is selected, the reading pane displays all of the related emails, documents and meetings that have been synchronized with the server. The user can read and write to these files which are stored in a secure location on the personal computer. Content being stored by Gluon? is allotted 50% of the user's free disk space (20% explicit favorites, 20% auto favorites, 10% nonfavorites). This can be changed manually by the user if needed.
Automatic merging and threading of emails in Outlook with SharePoint discussions >>
Discussions will behave just as an email. Users are able to compose, send and reply to a discussion; furthermore, it will show up in Outlook and SharePoint. The email is connected to the site that it is composed and will be displayed in a threaded view. Even if the subject and recipients change, Gluon is able to trace it back to the original context and conversation. Incoming emails from outside the system are simply dragged and dropped onto the site to be recorded and stored.
End-to-end Security and Auto Erasure of Unneeded Content >>
All content on the user's personal computer is stored with a 128 encryption. If the laptop is stolen or lost, the business content is secure. Any documents sentare encrypted and fragmented before being transmitted to the server. Content is removed from the client for three reasons:
- In the case where the content exceeds the respective allotted disk space the oldest is deleted first.
- If a user is removed from a company project and no longer has access to a Site, all relevant content is automatically removed from the computer with the next synchronization with SharePoint.
- If a user is no longer part of the organization, all business content is automatically removed from the personal computer upon synchronization.
|
Synchronization with SharePoint >>
Changes made to Site content are automatically sent up to the server side. The server to client functionality is applied when content is being sent other direction. A query is sent every 10 seconds for updates and a user-action also triggers synchronization.
